100 Word Challenge Week 19

Haunted house

Walking into the so called "haunted house", Sierra gripped my hand tightly.

"Sierra!" I hissed, "it's not haunted."

"I know it's just..." She couldn't finish her sentence partly because I was about to cut her off, but also because she screamed claiming she saw a ghost.

"Come on Sierra," I breathed, getting just a little bit scared.

We walked into the kitchen as the flame flickered and then went out on the stove. We walked over and pulled open the oven. Only to find a cake that read, "You made it out of play lands haunted house!"

100 Word Challenge Week 18

The Storm

Lauren, Sierra, and I swam from for hours in Sierra's pool. Once we were done we put on our matching orange onzie pyjamas and went into the basement to watch a movie, but silence washed over us as lightening lit up the sky and thunder shook our bodies with fear. We huddled in the couch as the lights flickered. Then flickered again. Then it all went black. Creeeeek. The door opened and we all squished closer and tighter together.
Suddenly, "Aggghh!" We all screamed as the person got closer and the lights turned on, "Tim!"
"Oh sorry, did I scare you?" Tim smiled mischievously.

100 Word Challenge Week17

                                        I believe in fairies

"There's this stairway," he began, "A beautiful stairway. That led to prison."

"Prison?" I questioned.

"Yep, prison." He continued, "For fairies!"

"Grandpa," I whined, " I'm not five, I don't believe in fairies!"

"You might not believe in them, but they're always there." He said mysteriously.

                                                               .              .               .

That was a conversation I had ten years ago. Now I'm standing at the top of the beautiful stairway. At the door way to to fairy prison, guarding all of the fairy prisoners. Tricking all of the fairies into thinking that this prison will be okay. Also giving them their last breathe of fresh air. Although some of the fairies don't make it to the top...

100 Word Challenge Week16

Campfire

"First campfire of the season!" I excitedly told Sierra and Lauren.

"I can almost smell the roasting marshmallows!" Sierra exclaimed.

"Now we just have to wait until the first star comes out." Lauren stated.

A couple of hours later it was getting dark until suddenly a star popped out of nowhere, then another. Pretty soon the whole night was lit up by twinkling stars.

We all stuffed our mouths with marshmallows and told scary stories until our stomachs ached and the night was at its end. Then we snuggled into our sleeping bags and dozed off at some point.

I was glad I got to spend my fist fire with them.

100 Word Challenge Week 15

The Photos

I took a bunch of pictures on the cruise and couldn't wait to browse through them, but as I was flipping through them I noticed something odd. There was a huge group of garbage cans that were in every one of my photos. Though they weren't there when I took the picture. I was so confused flipping through the same photos over and over.
"This doesn't make sense!" I stuttered to myself.
So I went to the only place I could trust, the internet. I searched up cases of ghost garbage cans, and apparently when garbage cans show up in your photos it means they're here to haunt you for not recycling! Ever since that day I've become a better recycler.

100 Word Challenge Week 14

Raffle

"Last day to buy raffle tickets folks!" Elly called out.
"I'll be drawing a ticket at 5:00 tonight!" My voice echoed.

A few others bought raffle tickets before the clock showed 4:57.
"Lets clean up and get ready to draw a card." I suggested.
With that we were cleaned and ready, 4:59...5:00!
"Can I draw it now?" I squealed, "I can't wait to see who wins the beach basket!"
Elly nodded in acknowledgement. I put my hand in the box and felt around. Then pulled out the lucky ticket.
"1593!" I announced.
A woman rose, her hand in the air, to claim her prize.

100 Word Challenge Week 13

The Car Ride

"This is the longest car ride ever!" Robby wailed. "Why'd I have to drink that medium slurpee!"
"I told you to just get a small," I snickered.

Around a half an hour later the car was filled with this horrid smell.
"Ugh," my mom exclaimed, "what's that horrific smell?"
Just then my mom noticed a spot on my brothers pants. At first she thought it was just water but the spot just grew and grew...
"Uh-oh..." Robby stammered. "I don't have to go to the bathroom anymore."
"You should've gone to the bathroom at the gas station." I mumbled to myself just loud enough for Robby to hear.

100 Word Challenge Week #10

The Three Men

Meandering around the royal garden, I heard talking, which rarely ever happens here... So, me being me, I pressed closer and listened.
"...Just do it!" A man in a formal looking suit growled, "You won't feel so bad once it's done and over with." He continued.
"Okay okay," a man with no shoes on stated.
"And have it done by sunrise!" A man with a dress on barked.
What were they going to have done by sunrise? I thought. But just then, I fell...right into one of the men. They all gritted their teeth at the sight of me and the man with the suit ordered the others to take me to the woods and get rid of me. Wait a second get rid of me, does that mean... Oh goodness.
"Next time you shouldn't eavesdrop," the man with no shoes on mumbled as he let go of my arm and yelled, "Run!".

100 Word Challenge Week #9

Fighting yourself

My stomach ached as I felt my pump buzzing.
"Oh goodness," I mumbled, "I forgot to bolus my lunch."
I could feel my numbers rising as my mom asked, "So how was lunch?"
I knew she was onto me. So I lied, "Awesome!"
"What did you enter?" She questioned.
Uh-oh, she caught me.
"Um, well here's the thing, I didn't." I answered sheepishly.

....
I checked my sugar, and of course I had off the charts numbers. I was so high off the charts I felt dizzy! A little too dizzy?
"Mom, I don't feel so well," I whispered.
"Oh, okay what isn't feeling we-"
I had passed out, it was the first time I had passed out, but I couldn't tell if I had had just passed out or...gone into a coma.
....
I couldn't open my eyes, I couldn't move, I couldn't talk! But why? Then it hit me. I was in a coma! A thousand thoughts were going through my mind, was I ever going to wake up? How long was I already asleep for? Where was I? I could hear a faint voice of my mom talking to the doctors and nurses and I knew I was in a hospital bed. I could tell my mom was crying because everyone once in a while I felt a tear drop roll down my arm, and a little sniff. I wanted to wake up and yell
"Hey mom, I'm okay!" but I knew that wasn't going to happen. So I just drifted off to sleep. I woke up to the sound of all of the machines surrounding me. Then I saw light, my eyes had sleepily risen open and my mom was looking at me with the happiest expression I've ever seen.
"I see you've awoken," The doctor stated as he examined my pulse, "You've been like a superhero fighting a villain, or in this case, your body!"
"A superhero," I thought, Not so bad Kaleigh."

                                                                           ....

"And that's the story of how I got into writing children's superhero books." I announced, "It's also when I learned a great lesson on how to take care of my body."

100 Word Challenge Week#8

Sunday Breakfast

I was all ready in my green dance costume when my mom called me down for breakfast.
"Surprise, surprise," I murmured.
I knew it was likely going to be eggs, and it was.
"How's my green dancer!" my mom asked, a little too excitedly.
"Mom i'm not a baby you don't have to talk to me like one!" I roared.
"Well someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," she mumbled.
We gobbled down our eggs and were out the door just a few minutes later. I danced my heart out and we started back home. We arrived home only to see smoke swimming around our house! I was petrified by how much smoke and gas i could smell. I guess now I know not to forget to turn the stove off after eggs.

100 Word Challenge Week#7

Every Which Way Hallways

Maya and I didn't see the creature that had followed us the night before. So we started running, but all of the hallways seemed to lead everywhere and nowhere? Maya tapped me on the shoulder, I was so deep in thought I hadn't realized I had stopped running.
"What are you doing?" Maya screeched.
"Sorry..." I said in disbelief, "Is that a door?"
We jogged towards the door, and as we reached it Maya placed her hand on my back,
"Go ahead, open it."
I reached for the doorknob...the door opened and there it was, a gigantic black bear! We stared as the bear stepped closer. Then took of his head? Turns out it was just my brother playing a prank on us.

100 WC Week #6

The Spider

Ashley, Shay and I were walking back to the cabin after swimming; the sun was cooking us like eggs on a hot stove. As we walked into the cabin, I noticed something black on the roof above my bunk. I climbed up the ladder to take a closer look at the...spider! I flew off the bed! Ashley tried to hit it with a shoe...she missed. The spider dropped onto my bed! We started ripping apart blankets. Our counselor walked in; she was shocked to see all the bedding everywhere. There it was! Shay squashed it with her shoe and I felt a wave of relief.

100wc week#5

   The Fire

My poor little baby cried as the smoke got in his eyes.
I found the balcony door, our town was such a bore
Everyone was gathered around on the ground.
My body shivering as I handed my baby to the man
With flickering wings.
They took ahold of my baby as someone
Called out "Lady".
I looked around but didn't see a thing,
So I finaly gave up and let my body swing.
I realized I wasn't dreaming as a man whispered,
"You're not crazy."
I slowly opened my eyes,
And then started to cry.
My house with all my hidden treasures,
was now nothing but a single feather.

100 Word Challenge Week #4

The Balloon

The red balloon floated high above the clouds in the morning, and was among the flickering stars in the evening, but later that day I could no longer see it. I had let it go in hope that one day it would find it's way back to me, but I was just a little girl dreaming. Now I'm an adult, so there is no way that this red balloon that somehow ended up on my front porch could ever be the one I let go years ago. But deep, down inside of me, I hoped that it was.

100WC Week #3

    River of Peace

Floating along the mountain coast I graze my hand along the water, rippling it. I yank out my umbrella and slow the motor until the spitting of the engine stops to nothing. I hit a hard rock and my knee turns bright red! It swells up as we turn the corner of the mountain. Suddenly, a frog jumps onto the ledge of my raft! It croaks a loud and slightly obnoxious frog croak and leaps back into the water. Such a big splash for just a little frog.
"Jackie! Wait up!" A distant voice calls.
It was so mesmerizing and peaceful I didn't recognize my brother followed me.

100 Word Challenge Week #2

Poutine

Taunting me the sweet, savoury smell filled the air as I joined the queue, I was basically drooling!
"You know they're supposed to be the best poutine truck in all of Canada." Courtney squealed as she tapped me on the shoulder.
I nodded excitedly. There were no words for my happiness! The line had shortened to four people in front of us. As we waited in the queue we counted the seagulls that flew over us. Excitement was bubbling inside of me as we walked forward. The line felt like eternity but it didn't matter as soon as I took the first bite.

100 word challenge week #1

Mt. Chupchake

The thin paper was tearing as I grabbed the top. Pushing myself up I grasped a handful of icing. A climber hoisted themselves upon a monstrous marshmallow as I looked beside me. Inhaling cinnamon, I sneezed, it burned but that didn’t matter, for I had hiked Mt.Chupchake. I rushed over to the lake of chocolate and threw my hand into it. Tugging and pulling my hand out cautiously the chocolate dripping off my finger tips.
“ROBBIE!” A voice called.
Suspiciously, I scanned the area around me.
“ROBBIE!” The voice called again.
Suddenly, I woke up from the glorious cupcake dream.
